The Ghost of Christmas Past
I have little doubt the holidays will be very different this year without sweet Heather here. She so loved dressing up and posing in front of the tree in exchange for back scratches and treats. There really was a twinkle in her eyes - year-round, of course, but especially during the holidays. So what better way to start our countdown to Christmas than to take a look back at Heather's holiday photos through the years? Happy holidays, sweet girl! We all miss you dearly.
A Very Merry Meetup
Recently, our friends in Peru got together for a holiday-themed Scottish Terrier meetup. These adorable Scotties came dressed in their best and were ready to rock around the Christmas tree (or just take turns marking them!). They exchanged gifts and made new friends, including a tourist who snapped the group photo above and claimed he had never seen so many Scotties together in one place - not even in his homeland, Scotland! Have a Scottish Terrier meetup in your area you want to share with the Scottie Mom community? Leave the event details in the comments section below.
Santa Paws is Coming!

I have to deliver all these presents to C-A-T-S?! |
He's made his list and checked it twice. Now, he's scratching his beard wondering how so many friends of the feline persuasion made it onto Santa Paws' list labeled "nice!" As has become something of a tradition in the Scottie Mom household, Mr. K has put his qualms with the evil C-A-T-S aside so that our extended family of fur cousins can enjoy some peace on Earth between C-A-T-S and dogs.
Six little stockings are stuffed with more crinkle toys than any C-A-T could want and lots of yummy, assorted treats await for our canine, equine, goat and chicken cousins, too. And, of course, we couldn't help but splurge on the newest (non-furry) addition to the family: Heather and Mr. K's darling human niece. All that is left is for Santa Paws to deliver the goods on Christmas morn!
Unlikely Gifting

Forbidden goodies Scottie Mom bought the evil C-A-T-S! |

I decided to steal stocking in protest: one red one, one green one. |

But 'tis the season after all and so, I present these stockings to my kitty cousins with love. Happy holidays! |
Everybody deserves a little holiday cheer, even Mr. K's arch enemy: the evil C-A-T-S. Believe it or not, there are a lot of C-A-T-S in the family - just not in The Scottie House. Mr. K forbids it. It took a little convincing, but once he was on board with the idea, six small stockings were stuffed with C-A-T toys and delivered safely to his kitty cousins over the holidays. (He couldn't bring himself to personally deliver them, however...that was going too far.) Mr. K even stuffed a stocking for his doggie cousin Miss Circe. You might remember her from last year's birthday pawty. He knew she would appreciate a new toy and some yummy treats for Christmas!
Heather and Mr. K's unlikely gifting didn't stop there. You see, there are also a number of horses and goats in the family - again, just not in The Scottie House. Alas, the Scotties helped put together a stocking full of carrots for these cousins. Ironically, Mr. K never tried to go after these strange, foreign-looking orange treats like he first did when he ran off with the C-A-T treat- and toy-filled stockings. I suppose fresh veggies aren't so appealing to the spoiled Scottie boy who prefers homemade blueberry doggie muffins made from scratch! As a result, Heather and Mr. K's horse and goat cousins got to keep all the carrot treats to themselves. And, much to Heather and Mr. K's surprise, the C-A-T cousins even banded together with all their other cousins to return the favor with a contribution to a Scottie rescue group in Heather and Mr. K's honor. It was a Merry Christmas of unlikely gift giving indeed!

O Scottie tree, indeed! Just one question: where are all the Scotties? |
Grandmadre Got Run Over by a Scottie

Grandmadre got run over by a Scottie
Serving dinner at her house Christmas Eve
You can say there's no such thing as evil cats
But as for Mr. K now, he believes.
It started with a loud MEOW
Right outside the bedroom door
Mr. K scratched and scratched until somebody came
But once that door was open, Mr. K was gone.
Grandmadre got run over by a Scottie
Serving dinner at her house Christmas Eve
You can say there's no such thing as evil cats
But as for Mr. K now, he believes.
Down the stairs Mr. K did run
Trying to catch that evil, old cat
Instead he ran into Grandmadre
And in an instant, the food went SPLAT!
Grandmadre got run over by a Scottie
Serving dinner at her house Christmas Eve
You can say there's no such thing as evil cats
But as for Mr. K now, he believes.
Now, the fun was really over
And Mr. K was sent to bed
But as we carried him up the stairs
Guess who turned the corner and MEOWed again?
Grandmadre got run over by a Scottie
Serving dinner at her house Christmas Eve
You can say there's no such thing as evil cats
But as for Mr. K now, he believes.
